View Full Version : Too much power on HP Photosmart 130 (240V instead of 110V)

I never thought that I would have done this, but here goes!! ...

... I got a present of a Photosmart 130 (from USA). I have other products bought in Canada that could handle both 240V (Ireland) and 110V (US) - they came with a simple transformer on the plug.

Unfortunately with the 130, I bought only a converter plug and plugged it in (without checking that it could handle the 240V- yes stupid!) - and bang!!

Now my question, was the bang only the fuse 'tripping' on the 110V plug and is my printer okay if I get another 110V plug and then get a 110-240V transformer? Has anyone any experience of this?

thanks for your help, A.

You can try the fuse, but usually bad things happen with overvoltage.
(Boards blow).

If the printer has a fuse you might get lucky, but it probably doesn't, so chances are it's fried.

thanks folks for the replies. I have a feeling that it gone.

I have bought ink for it (and the new ink cartridge that's in it) and hp paper; all of which I can use on larger hp photo printers, so I will probably go and get a larger hp. I see a hp deskjet 5150 for €139 that uses the hp57 ink (colour). Anyone use this particular model?

thanks again, A.
