Here is my irq list-how do I know if the motherboard is bad? How do I fix it? The sis website no longer has the drivers and provides no technical support.

With the information you've supplied, the answer to your first question is: You don't
The answer to your second question is: We don't know if it's bad, so we don't know if it needs to be fixed yet.
Obviously, what I'm getting at here is that a whole lot more information about your exact situation, more precise System and Hardware information, and what exactly are the problems you are experiencing would help us to know exactly where to start.
Your IRQ list offers no clue whatsoever as to the specific problem you're experiencing or what you hope to accomplish.

Sorry I have a compaq presario, 256 mb ram, 466 mhz (old yes I know) but my usb devices no longer work. Also Event Viewer shows alot of smtp and iis service failure messages as well as general service failures.
I have checked for viruses and found an abobot and bugbear virus but still I keep getting these messages.
The sis motherboard website is no help at all...
I downloaded service pack 3 o.k. but I can't install service pack 4--it get more error messages and it just stops installing!
Any ideas? Thanks! !

Sorry I am running windows 2000 advanced server but on a standalone (no network yet). I did try both the express and network sp4 installation options but both failed. I also tried to install it in safe mode-no luck. As well, I disabled iis service but still it failed.

If you can run Windows and see the Event Viewer, not a thing is wrong with the motherboard. If it's bad, you won't see anything...no windows, no boot screen, nada...
smtp and iis failures might not be a big problem, could just be websites or ad banners that didn't load, bad scripts that didn't run, or sites that timed out, couldn't find server etc. It could be something more too, so don't rule out the possibility of trouble.
USB not working could be a resource conflict or corrupt driver files. I would check Device Manager and remove the USB controller, reboot and reinstall it as my first course of action.
If you know you have had the viruses mentioned, try and run an online scan and see if it finds anything or agrees with your antivirus that they're gone.
Also run Adaware (http://www.lavasoft.de/support/download/) and check for spyware applications gunking up the system. A lot of people also like Spybot (http://www.safer-networking.org/), Hijack This (http://mjc1.com/mirror/hjt/) might not be a bad idea either.
I can't remember if win2000 has the System File Checker available with win98, maybe someone else will know, I think it's there...but it needs to be run if available.
The error messages seem to be related to networking/internet services, so something in the TCP/IP stack might be corrupted, it might have to be removed and reinstalled, but wait and see.

Many thanks to Paleo Pete for your suggestions, but actually I have run ad-aware, spybot, and hijack this. They showed no infections yet a message did pop up saying that "Agorobot" had been removed...?? So I guess I am o.k. as far as viruses are concerned. ??
I have tried to remove all my usb devices in safe mode and rebooted but this didn't seem to help. Device Manager still shows a problem with "sis 7001 to usb controller"--isn't that the motherboard and usb? ??
There also seems to be a problem with w2k error checking program...it keeps saying that it can't be done...should I try in safe mode? It keeps asking if I want to do it after reboot because windows is sharing resources? Nothing else is running that I know of?
Any ideas on why sp4 will not install? According to Microsoft website, sp4 will fix my usb problems...:)
I am starting to wonder if I should have upgraded from windows 98 to windows 2000...

I can't think of anything else, but am wondering if maybe your OS doesn't like the hardware. NT based systems are sometimes really picky about hardware compatibility.
As for the SP4, I think the service packs have to be installed incrementally. SP1, then SP2, then SP3 etc. Otherwise if you skip one the next newer one won't install. That may be why the SP4 is having trouble.

The Microsoft site says that sp3 includes all of sp1 and 2, likewise sp4 include all previous sp's.
