First off, this is a great site! With a simple search I've solved several problems without posting. But all good things come to an end...

This is my first build:

AMD 64 3400+
ASUS K8T800 KV8 SE
1GB DDR
ATI RADEON 9800 PRO
TB SANTA CRUZ SOUND CARD
(80 GB MAXTOR HDD) yet to be installed
LITE ON CD-RW
TEAC FLOPPY
(XP Pro) yet to be installed
ME on a 20 GB Maxtor HDD (from my old system)

CMOS shows propper IDE drives but IDE Auto Detect finds no drives. I then get the warning message that BIOS is not installed.

I have a bootable floppy but it doesn't get that far. Even if I could, I can't copy the BIOS files off the CD to the floppy.

Any ideas?

Thanks in advance and thanks for the past help.

Pat

It's late, I can't think straight...the only thing that comes to mind is check the CMOS battery for a plastic strip under it to keep it from making contact and running down while on the shelf. If the CMOS chip is not getting power, the machine might think it has no BIOS.

Problem solved. There were old drivers on my boot disk.

Thanks,
