My background is a trads photographer but have gone digital. Got an OEM Hitachi 4GB working fine and have ordered another MUVO2. Have they soldered it or but in a silly bit of tape to stop you tampering? Anyway hopefully I'll get the card out and replace with something small. I gather I need a portable battery powered drive for downloading on the field. 20 Gig would probably do. For the office I want advice on external drives Western digital have a few cool options but it is hard to know what have extra features not really needed and what will really work in an office. The Maxtor one touch looks simple in comparison to the WD options.

The biggest internal HD I have is 60Gig so interested in expandingg but how can I check if my motherboard will take it. PC is a P4 1700Mhz processor. Also have three seperate USB output bays. How can I know that they are performing as USB 2.0. If so Firewire is not really necessary.

Please try again as I have no idea of what you are talking about.

???and have ordered another MUVO2. Have they soldered it or but in a silly bit of tape to stop you tampering? ??? What does this mean?

The Microdrive is being removed from the Creative MP3 player ( MUVO2) and Hitachi are not too happy as it will effect sales of Microdrives to photographers as they get them way cheaper by buying the MP3 player and removing drive. Ignore this bit. it really doesn't matter. How about the rest. Any experience with Ext drives?

So you want to take a microdrive out of an mp3 player to save money? Don't do it. As a professional phitographer, your imgaes are your life. Don't mess around with something weher you void the warranty.

With external drives, what are you attaching it to? A laptop????

There is another option.
In this last PcMag or maybe the next to the last
They had a sidebar about a new drive.

For use with camera's memory cards and NO pc required.
You can slip in the card and save the images.

I dont know where the mag is so I can't give you a link at the moment
But after that issue is on the news stands
It will also be on their web site..

I like the slide show idea to review files
