Hello, I just purchased a Lexmark 510 series printer and tried to install it on my XP Home edition machine. When attempting to install the software I get a message telling me the install was unsuccesful. The message says, "RPC Server is Unavailable".
Any ideas how to correct this problem?
Thanks for any help!

Well this morning I've discovered that I didnt fix it. I was able to load the printer and print off documents last night. This morning when I try to print, it tells me that no printer is installed. I then go to Lexmarks website and attempt to follow their instructions thinking maybe it's a driver problem with XP. Well when I follow their steps and attempt to use the Windows "Add a printer" option, I get the prompt "action could not be completed" and that's as far as I can go.
I think there should be a little smilely thingy for pulling your hair out!
Thanks

It seems the problem I am having is, I can now load the software for the printer and am able to print a document. However, once I restart my computer and attempt to print a document I get the prompt telling me that no printer is installed. If I click the lexmark icon on my desktop, nothing happens. If I try to use the "Add a Printer" wizard on Windows I get the prompt that the operation could not be completed. I then have to uninstall and reinstall the software for the printer before I can print again.
Where's that pulling haird smilely?

Fixed it! I had to go to the Printer Spooler service and change it from Manual startup to Automatic startup. :D
