View Full Version : I have returned with new puzzles and ??'s
You know when xp is at the very last pre-boot stage, the "Windows" logo is displayed with the left-to-right blinking lights beneath, and you are shown the copyright(R)1985-2001,Microsoft Corporation ya with me,right?...ok right there at the point after this logo screen..sometimes there is a blackout, or "pause",correct? at this point, what might be the reason/s for this "pause" to linger, indefinitely?
Is this clear enough? Is my description such that you understand what I am talking about?
I don't quite know how the heck I managed to get into, or even out of this ten-minute period of sheer & utter pandemonium, but I think I gave an apt description of what I went through today that reminded me of a Twilight Zone episode (a good one)....
My apologies to readers.. I know I speak in a wordy fashion, often confusable.
I started my difficulties in hastily starting my pc before I made the pre boot check for plugged in drives, which I should never skip as I did this time... not good for a raid array... luckily it had nothing on it.. but I am licking those wounds, trying to piece together some theory about what I did to my system, and how to interpret its reactions to my booboo... Feeling so idiot-like is not the best self-esteem-food, but, what cha go' do?
thankyou for any remarks

you might want to check your video card, at this point I believe it is where the monitor changes resolutions (the loading screen is in 640x480 res.). if that's not it, you may want to try repairing windows (repair disk that came w/ PC)
That help?

PS. you're right, you do speak in a very "wordy fashon"
YES I REALLY DO I have found the harder I try the worse it can get..But time heals
bottom line.. thank you for anwering anyway amigo
by the way
I used recovery console and I used "fixboot"...apparently i got lucky somehow but it just kills me cuz I do not really know what the hell happened, but not enough to undermine the basic fact;
ITS ALL BETTER
THANKS AGAIN

Well, it's good fixboot cured it, but I still have to wonder what was really going on...Something in the registry it didn't like? Trouble loading a driver? Looking for a network connection? Trouble loading a TSR? No telling, my best guess is looking for a LAN connection. Sometimes that can take ages if a NIC is installed, (standard onboard component on many newer boards), and no network is present.
I wish I'd copied everything down that was shown onscreen a dozen times during my "blackout"...
I am afraid if you dislike my talkative nature of my way of posting, you might have not expressed any inquisitiveness about the same issue driving me nuts ha
I have seen your handle b4, and was impressed I drew your comment,or glad.
Since you messed up and did express a similar curiousity as mine, I will go on a little while; talkin about stuff can lead to knowledge on occasion.
Let me see if I can construct a timeline of sort..
since I keep being kicked off pipeline, I have
started typing into notepad>pasting thepost when it can be swiftly done.
Uh..lets see
Last nite was the best brief period of zero latency from my new aardvark sound card solution direct pro 24/96,
and now have learned for a two-pc setup with gpo I won't even need a sound card on both pcs, but thats ok;
I did need the zero latency, which would only have been acheivable with the Aard. and I will now have 2 mix/I/O
interface's... I am happy to have spent that 500$ regardless of the marital strain...ha (not funny) but I laff
anyway to survive .
UR off track,Jeff!
SORRY today I got home from my weekly trip to my clinic and looked forward to more of lastnite's joy.. But..instead
when I started the pc I've just assembled p4p800d 2raptors gigram scsiboot evercoolwatercool computer/DAW..when I
started it, I'd neglected to do a routine check for ascertaining all drives were still plugged in.. especially those disks
which are array members.... yeek... its ok there was nothing but a 30 second test recorded on the array.
And I dunno where I read that things like the floppy drive being connected are not critical to basic functionality, but that
is one postulate my day-long drudge of today, failed to demonstrate, or prove. very much the opposite, and the same is true
in the case of the other pc.
For me to say that when I replaced the floppy into the machine or pc in trouble, everything was soon back to relatively
normal.... would be in the case of each desktop I now own, having each in the last day or two, given me a FIT...which was a
real pain and long hours only alleviated either instance, but in each case , as soon as I replaced the "borrowed" floppy drive,
all was soon better.
go to someplace ... and
"fig--yurr"?????????????????????????????????????????????????? ?????
'
But as you can see I am as happy as a pig in ****, now, just'a jabberin' my fool head off to you...
Paleo.. yes thats a handle to remember you got there.......
For some reason I am blanking... as I recollect the series of events.. stay tuned..
I shall return when I can impart something of substance
be well
