Sorry inflame, I dont have a solution to your problem, but I do know of a really easy way to overclock your video card. I myself have a Geforce 4 MX420, and I use a reg insert called "coolbits"

download http://download.softpedia.com:8080/TWEACK/geforce_overclock.zip (http://www.softpedia.com/public/scripts/godownload.php?Here

all you need to do is install it by double-clicking on the .reg file, and it loads it into the registry automatically. after that, just go into your video card properties (display properties>settings>advanced>Geforce 4 MX440

in that tab that pops out (make sure that you have latest drivers), a new "clock frequencies" menu should appear. there you can set both the memory, and clock frequencies on the fly. be careful;)
