my connection sometimes won't dissconect, & I have to either unplug or re-boot. it's not all the time but often enough to be annoying.

Have you checked with your ISP? Who is your ISP? Can't remember if your on AOL or not. I have had this happen a few times where, there are no signs of data transfer(AOL updates) but won't drop the connection. How is ZA working for you? Could be someone else scanning you and that might hold the connection. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/eek.gif

ISP is BT. I am using the new version of ZA, & now you mention it, it seems to be intermittently idle. I'll go into the settings. & see if it's setup ok.

Internal modem? Software (winmodem) or hardware?

Many times you can force a disconnect by picking up a phone attached to the same line and making a noise into it...this will force the modem to disconnect, I have seen this happen with some frequncy with winmodems and ME...especially if it won't disconnect by clickung on the connection icon and selecting "disconnect".
