I have Emachines eSlate 450k. It won't boot or enter the BIOS. Chek of the memory is pass, found FDD, CD, HDD and then freezes. When trying to enter the BIOS, shows up just message "Entering BIOS..." and nothing happend. BIOS is Phoenix NoteBIOS 4.0 R6.
Please if some one can help?

It appears your hard drive may be the problem as it freezes after the hard drive is detected.
What OS do you have?
Can you boot with a windows 98 boot disk?
If you can, disconnect the HDD and see if you can get into the bios.
You can also download the HDD diagnostics from the HDD manufacturers web site.

It use 4.3 Gb HDD Toshiba & WIN 98SE.
Probobly is not HDD, because i remove it and try just with floppy drive to boot - no success. No boot from CD, HDD or FDD. No POST beeps or error messages. It seems tome like corrupted BIOS, but I'm not sure.

It's time to contact e-machinec tech support to see if they have a bios upgrade...

I have BIOS file and flash utility, so I make boot disk, but it won't work - the pc simply refuse to load from floppy. How can reflash BIOS in this case? Just replasing the chip? Or can be done in some other way?

Hi Vlado,
Disconnect the FDD, HDD and CDROM, remove all cards except the video card, boot the PC and try and enter the BIOS immediately, do not wait for memory check or posting.
Let me know if you can get in - if not, you could try resetting the BIOS, there should should be a jumper near the battery that will allow you to clear it, refer to your motherboard manual or the web.
It does sound like your BIOS could be corrupt, which means no flash update will work - you will need the manufacturer to send you a new chip that you can install.

David

Ok, just realised that was in the "Notebooks" section and you are using a laptop here - ignore the part about removing the cards, but do take out absolutely everything you can and try to go straight into BIOS!

Nothing change. FDD, HDD, CD are out of the game, but notebook have the same behavior (Sorry about laptop thing). I even try to load OS from USB key and USB floppy - same thing.

There is no jumers or micro swiches at all. Only small CR1220 battery beside the BIOS chip. This battery is brand new, so shouldn't be a problem i think.
Try taking the battery out for a few minutes. If that dosent work try remiving it for a day. Some systems will hold a charge for a long time. This should force the BIOS to reset itself.

i would still take the battery out again, you said this is a new battery did u have to replace it? I am just wondering if you did perhaps you might have affected the motherboard.
