Here's a goofy one (I think I saw it in another post somewhere). When I print a document (say Word or whatever) all is well. When I print a web page, the right edge gets chopped off. Changing margins does not help. The margin is moved but the edge is still chopped. It doesn't matter what web page. The printer is a Lexmark X6170 All in One. Drivers are up to date. I don't normally print web pages but my wife does. I can't solve it so far. Maybe someone out there can and get me an atta-boy.

Thanks:)

A couple of things to try.

Check the webpage with PrintPreview First.
Use landscape view.
Save as Web Page Complete and then open the htm file with Word; save as word document if you want to.

hi pop pop

I've always had this problem after failing miserably to resolve it, so I usually just copy the text and paste it into word.

most pages are like this but the current one is an exeption and prints fine. I have just noticed though that my web page (http://www.revi.co.uk) is not only chopped off but comes in its own frame with scroll bars, I don't know why this is as I took great pains to make sure thta it printed onto a4 paper, and it always did, so I wonder what has happened.

come on folks, some head scratching is required.

Thanks for the input. I have used the landscape method. Hadn't thought about using Word but that sounds good. I just wonder what causes this. Maybe it's just one of the mysteries of life that are never meant to be solved ...

like ...

Why do we drive on a parkway and park on a driveway?
Why are they called a "pair" of pants and a "pair" of underwear?
Why is it called a TOOTHbrush? I don't know about you, but I have more than one ... at least for now.

Changing margins does not help. The margin is moved but the edge is still chopped.

When you "changed the margins" what did you change and by how much?

As Paul mentioned, experiment with the PrintPreview

1. Reduce the left and right margins.
Select "Page Setup" from the File Menu
Change left and right margins to .25
Click OK
(If .25 doesn't work, try experimenting with even smaller margins...all the way down to 0. Some pages this has worked for me, others not).

And yes, Landscape mode will usually work if printing the page that way is acceptable.

2. Print in Landscape mode.
Select print from the File Menu
From the print Dialog box, select Properties or Page setup
In the orientation section of the Page setup select Landscape Mode.

Anyway, just about my bedtime....think I'll use my Teethbrush, strip down to a single underwear and hit the sack. :p

If you're just trying to print text, highlight all the text you want to print, right click inside the highlighted area and click Print. In the property sheet that opens, put a check in the "Selection" button. (In the "what to print" section) That usually works well for me, with Windows anyway. I've never tried to print the entire webpage, since all I want is the text.

If you want text and graphics, (unfortunately including advertisemsnts) see if you have an option anywhere in your print properties to resize it to fit the page. You might have to look around a bit. since a lot of newer webpages are optimized for a 800X600 or 1024x768 desktop, and some still spill over the sides, you might be trying to print navigation bars, advertisements, etc which is forcing the printer to try and print wider than the paper actually is. Strange, because it should automagically format it to fit the paper.

That's why the first option works well, it sees what you highlight as text and formats it as a text page to fit on standard letter size paper.

Strange, because it should automagically format it to fit the paper.

Internet Explorer won't do this for some reason.

Could always use another browser for printing.
