I have a question. Im new so easy on me (Basic English). We bought our computer 2 years ago from my brother in law.

Its been acting up, freezing up, I think there are alot of files missing etc. I was going to try to format the hard drive but he never gave us any of the disks to go with the computer. I have the system recovery CD, and Application recovery CD. I have done the system recovery twice, it never asked me for the application recovery CD. What is that for? And how can format now? What should I do?

You should run an anti-virus program and check for spyware before doing a format. If there are still problems, download the program Hijack This(but don't save to a temporary folder, instead create a new one), then post the log on a new thread which someone experienced here can examine and make recommendations from.

I would do what Quantax said, because if you do do a format, your going to need all of your software, windows etc to hand.Main reason for this post, I actually perfer adaware to search out Ad-sotware which can screw up a computer preety badly
