Hi,

Just built new system based on a pc chips M811 Mobo, Athlon XP2000, 256 mb DDR, & Geforce 4 MMX 440. Windows XP. Everything fine except Device manager reports Graphic card error ....Device cannot start code 10. Installed Mobo drivers first (VIA Chipset) then used the installation cd that came with the Graphics card. Uninstalled the card + Drivers, rebooted and let windows detect the card. Followed the prompts to install drivers....same result. Downloaded latest drivers from Nvidea....same result. Card is recognised at Boot but fails in windows. I suspect the drivers but I have 2 other machines using same card and same drivers, both Win XP OS....both fine! Any ideas please.

Try a different driver - maybe Detonator 45.23. The latest drivers are meant for the FX cards, MX adapters should use earlier drivers:

Also, reseat the card making sure that it's fully seated.

If nothing helps, then see if the card works in another system.
If not, then it's probably defective.

Thanks very much for your suggestions people!
Bit of an odd one, this. Tried all suggestions and finally used process of elimination i.e tried it in another machine. This machine was actually using a Geforce 4 MMX but it was a V 1.0. The problem card is also a Geforce 4 with same amount of memory (64mb) but it is a later version (2). Anyway, on swapping the cards they both installed perfectly first time! Seems to be a config problem between the PC-Chips MOBO and the V2 Geforce. First time I have used a PC-CHIPS mobo so maybe they are fussy about particular graphic cards. Looking at the reviews for this particular board most people seem to opt for an ATI graphics card. Still, at £15 for a Mobo that supports all Athlon XP Processors, 2 Gb DDR Ram, onboard Lan/Sound, 6 USB, a damn good manual etc I guess you can't winge too much over one small hiccup!!
Thanks again to all who took the trouble to respond.
