i just reformatted my hard disk and installed my os (win98SE) and my sound card driver (Yamaha XWave) and video card driver (GeForce 2mx 400) and everything went smooth..then i tried installing my ethernet card driver and when in prompted me to put in my win98 cd it couldn't find certain files..after cancelling the installation and rebooting, the system wouldn't boot up into the OS without informing me first that i have missing system.ini files..two of them..i think they were both vxd files, i know it has something to do with the lan card, but now what do i do?! i just got my computer too!!!

Hello Whipper and welcome,
Try booting in SafeMode and deleting any listings of the NIC in Device Manager.
When you go to reinstall the NIC and it prompts you for the 98 CD, direct it to the Win98 folder on the CD. If it does not find it there, go a little deeper to Win98>System.
Good luck
