View Full Version : mobo upgrade headache
I installed a new mobo, processor and memory in my machine. I have a 6 gig hard drive that has windows ME on it. When I try to boot up I get only dos. When I try to reinstall windows ME i get error SU0013 which says if I have HDFS or Windows NT file system I must make a dos boot partition. I do not have either. What can I do now? I need this system.

You need to back up all your stuff and fdisk and reinstall OS and your apps. You can't just put a new motherboard in a system and expect it to work right. It probably won't. It might, but probably not.

SUWIN Errors (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;en-us;Q129971) has some information referring to that error message and others related to Windows installation. From what it says, it sounds like the drive may be using a Dynamic Drive Overlay, EZDrive is the one referred to in this article.

Thnks for all the advice. Up and running now. Won't believe anyone when they tell me I can upgrade anything without losing what is already on harddrive.
