I've been getting this error for quite awhile now while using AOL:

WAOL caused a general protection fault in module USER.EXE at 003:00006c50. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/mad.gif http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/mad.gif

ALSO, after I get that error, I get invalid page fault errors with Explorer (not to be confused with Internet Explorer) and I am forced to restart because the computer freezes.

Does anyone have a website on errors like this or know of what to do in order to fix them?

Hey Zero,
What version AOL are you using? Around here you will get a lot of "Get rid of AOL" comments, but if you use it as your main connection, you need to get it fixed.
I would recommend uninstalling it and installing fresh. If you are using 4.0 or earlier, definitly get the latest version. I picked up a copy of 7.0 at a Target store the other day. No 1 hour download.

Or you could go with "Juno",....HaHaHaHa http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif

Can't dig up anything specific on that one....but I am going to take a stab at it and ask...did you, by any chance, upgrade from a previous installation of AOL?

I would bet that if you did there are scraps or even the whole install left over....you may need to uninstall the current and any previous installations of AOL and reinstall it. In my experience AOL is not very good at cleaning up after iself.

Also which version of Windows are you running and was that a clean install or an upgrade?

Hey,

As mentioned, uninstall AOL and reinstall. Defrag inbetween. If you don't have version 7.0, pick up a CD and install from it. Make sure your system meets the requirements first though.

I have found over the last five years that it's always best to install AOL from a CD. People who have the most problems with it have usually tried to download and install the program.

Say what you will about AOL. I have never had a problem with it that wasn't of my own making. And, most of the time, I just use it as an ISP. Log on, minimize it and use IE 6.0.

Cheers,

Big Blue 66

AOL version 6.0 is what's being used. This version of AOL was from a CD as a fresh install, not an upgrade. I'll try out what BigBlue said and get back to you... http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
