I recently picked up 2 16meg sticks of Ram and a p200 chip to help an old ASUS p55t2p4 w/an AMD K-5 166. After installing the cpu the computer recognized it on startup, but gave me this quote "invalid VxD dynamic link call to device number 3, Service B. Your windows configuration is invalid. Run the Windows Setup program again to correct this problem. Press any key." I tried to reintall Win98SE but it jammed midway. I pull out the new ram and rebooted, it finished windows install. I looked at the ASUS manual and found I had not changed the bios. I rebooted and went to disable the parity funcion since the new ram was 8 chip not 12 like the original. Unfortunately it was already disabled http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/eek.gif For kicks I tried enabling it but I get the same message.... I also tried replacing the original ram with the new but on startup the computer just beeps like a broken alarm clock. I put the original back in and the new in slots 3 & 4 and get that message again. It never counts it in on the booting screen. The label on the new ram reads " 16MB 4x32 Memory Simms 7 " I have two sticks and they came in connected sealed packages with PCRecycle on the label. Is this an operator error or is there something wrong with this ram? I appreciate all input before I try and deal with the shop about it.... http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif I have a pdf manual for the MoBo, and have the case off if there are any details I failed to include. Thanks again http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif

Sounds like old hardware, this one may be tricky. I suspect you're on the right track when you look into the bios for a setting somewhere. Maybe you've got your bios set to look for the wrong speed. Look for a setting like "Memory speed" or "dimm clock" set at an ns. (nanosecond) value.

Yes, I see a speed setting in the bios, it is set for 60ns. The new ram does not list it's speed, and I tried going to the manuf. web site, but Hyundai's site kept jamming and it didn't look like it was really set up to give that kind of info. It seemed more into bragging that they make everything from elevators and freight ships to silicon chips and where to send my resume. The ASUS manual says it can handle 60ns and 70ns fpm, but it didn't say how it handled them. Do I set it to the lower 70ns? Will then the faster ram run at 70ns which although slower (can I hold my breath for 10ns?!?) I think the additional ram will be worth the speed reduction. I did find that my current Ram is fpm and the ASUS manual says it can handle any and all simms as long as they are installed in like pairs....

Thanks for the help!
