My computer has taken over me. Anything i do , i performed an illigal operation. I look at videos and it says my system has no memory left, which is impossible. 1 gig amd athlon, 256 mb sdram, 10.1 gig hard drive, and i only have 1.3 gig used up. My memory says 85% free. So im really losing it. And then the performed an illigal operation comes up almost all the time. Re install my mouse, my printer, you name it it comes up. Deleted all the toys, realplayer, ect, Re installed windows 98 without crashing the hard drive first of course, just cant figure it out.. Any help would be greatly appreciated...

Hi Casper,
Just remember, nothing is impossible http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/biggrin.gif
Well, lets see, illigal operations and insuficiant memory.Hmmm. What is telling you that your memory is 85% free? What exactly do you mean by " Re installed windows 98 without crashing the hard drive first of course."? Do you mean you did not repartition and format? Have you run a virus scan? What is running in the background? Any conflicts in "Device manager?"

No i did not repartition hard drive. Nothing else was running except my virus protection, which i also turned off and tried. Seems like the problem fixed itself so far, but now im getting the system error messages from microsoft about 10 times a day for error reports. send to microsoft.
Any idea what these are about. Something about dr watson too. I did not download any dr watson programs. Is this a microsoft detective or something ??? Any way to get rid of these error report windows.. HHEeLllppP
Thanks Casper

Regarding Dr Watson, have a look at this:
When you run Ipconfig.exe with the display DNS switch (/displaydns), if the cache has a large number of entries, Services.exe may generate a
Dr.Watson error message. This symptom has been noted on configurations with Domain Name Resolution (DNR) caches that contain 2000 entries.
This problem can occur when there are over 2000 entries in the DNR cache. This can cause Services.exe to stop responding (hang) when you run Ipconfig.exe with the /displaydns and /flushdns switches to perform look ups to resolve issues where Web sites are failing for clients.
To resolve this problem, obtain the latest service pack for Windows 2000. For additional information, please see the following article in the Microsoft Knowledge Base:

Dr.Watson is a Windows debugging tool that has been included with Windows sense Win 3.11 I haven't found a use for it yet. All that I have found that Dr Watson does is log errors. As far as your problem I would say boot to safe mode remove the video card and monitor from the device manager reboot and reinstall them also check for conflicts with other devices such as video and sound sharing an IRQ. If you had onboard video and added another video card without disabling the onboard video in BIOS setup go to BIOS setup and disable the onboard video and remove it from device manager in safe mode. It really sounds to me like a hardware conflict.
