I was trying to use a jetway 771AS board using only cpu sdram and video card , no cd ,no floppy , no hd . once the system check the memory and the cpu a message " checksum error defaults loaded " appear. but i can not get into the bios after that . this was the first time i was using the mb . i change the battery used the jumper to clear the cmos with the computer off (of course) put the jumper back to its original position. but still get the same message.
i posted this previously and followed the adice given but still the message hunts me. if i can not get this mb to work , i read that at e bay there are people that sell bios chips , is this reliable? the bios from the board are AWARD
any further advice is GREATLY appreciated

For a BIOS chip I would avoid ebay and go with something a bit more reliable.

BIOS World (http://www.biosworld.com/) is a good place to look.

A BIOS update may be a consideration, but that's not for the faint of heart. Check Here (http://www.mitre.org/research/cots/FLASHBIOS.html) for some good info.
