I have a SATA HD, Brand: Maxtor
Capacity : 200GB
My MOBO Brand: Asus
Model: K8V SE
Problem : I recently added a 2nd HD to my comp its an EIDE WD, i set it to slave, and master to the SATA. The problem is the computer did not recognise it ( the EIDE WD ) and to amke it worse, now both my DVD-ROM and DVD burner is also not recognize by both the device manager and BIOS, both primary and secondary EIDE master and slave is listed as not detected! Any idea wats going on and to solve this problem?
I set my DVD-ROM and DVD burner on the primary EIDE, and the new HD to the secondary EIDE.

SATA drives do not have master and slave settings so there is no jumper to set on it. Connect your new HD to the primary IDE connector with the jumper on master or single as per drive instructions. Put you DVD drives on the secondary IDE connector and recheck master/slave settings on them and make sure that all connections are secure.

Another thing is that during booting up, it says "scanning IDE devices................IDE device not detected by fasttack contoller, the BIOS is not installed.
What is that suppose to mean??

After messing trough my comp, i found out trough device manager that the RAID controller driver is not installed, so i went to ASUS.com download it and installed it. Now the problem it says that............
"Device status : This device cannot start. (Code 10)"........can anyone explain this to me?

Your EIDE drive should be jumpered as master without slave or single. On a WD drive this means the jumper should be removed or parked horizontally on pins 5 and 3 or pins 6 and 4.
Here is what WD says about it:
Incorrect Jumper Settings will also prevent the BIOS from detecting your drive. The most common incorrect jumper setting used is for a drive that is alone on the data cable. Keep in mind that the concept of Master/Slave applies to a given EIDE channel. If there are two drives on the data cable, one must be Master and one designated as Slave. If the drive is the only device on the cable, it should be jumpered as a Single drive, NOT a Master. To do this, place a jumper shunt on pins 4 & 6, or remove the jumper shunt completely to set the drive as a Single drive.

If you are not going to setup a RAID array the RAID drivers don't need to be installed and the RAID controller needs to be disabled in the system BIOS.

Both on-board and pci fast-trak controllers can have both SATA and IDE connectors on them in addition to the normal two IDE channels on the mobo.
Some of these only allow one master IDE to be attached to the RAID hardware - particularly if they are Promise Controllers with an on-board setup. The PCI cards usually allow both a master and a slave to be connected as long as they are jumpered correctly.
Have you installed and used the 200gig SATA OK or was there a special reason for mentioning it? Is all of your 200gig recognised OK?
Which connector is your WD IDE HDD connectd to; a normal ATA connection or a RAID one? - And what is its capacity?

my SATA works just fine, infact its my boot drive, the one my OS (WIN XP PRO) is currently installed, and it is also recoqnise just fine. No, there is not a special reason that i mention it, i just want to make sure that plp who read it knows excatly that i am trying to install 2 different kind of HD.
And the 2nd HD ( WD IDE ) is connected to the Primary ATA as a single drive without any jumper as rond36 had suggested
And both my DVD and DVD burner is intalled on the secondary ATA as master and slave respectively.
But both primary and secondary ATA is not recognise by the MOBO, i already make sure that all cables is secure.

If you are sure the IDE/ATAPI devices are cabled and jumpered correctly then go into the BIOS setup and try to enable them there or use any autodetect setting. They wont appear in Windows till they show up properly in the BIOS. Some BIOS setups need to be re-entered manually every time you change the arrangement of such hardware - though usually this is with older systems.

I tried doing it manually and set it as CDROM, after saving setting and restart, i got a message ATAPI device incompatible.

Well unless some hardware is failing this has me a bit bemused - but it sure sounds like a cabling problem or the wrong settings in the BIOS. You could try some of the hardware in another pc to see if it is OK there and that would help to narrow things down maybe.

What even amused me was that all i did was add a new HD, never touch both my ATAPI devices and suddenly my BIOS just dont recoqnize any of them.
What really bother me, is when booting up the computer try to scan for devices and after a few seconds it says BIOS not installed! Whats that suppose to mean?

It means the BIOS for the RAID controller!!!!

A couple of thoughts on this situation:
1. If you remove the 2nd hdd and re-set your system to the same settings you had before you installed the 2nd hdd, does everything run properly?
2. If the answer to the above is affirmative, then it seems that the focus should be on the 2nd hdd. I'm curious if you've formatted and/or set up the 2nd hdd properly, and since it likely is an ata/100 or ata/133, whether you are using the proper 80 pin cable. Who knows, maybe your 2nd hdd is bad, and somehow is preventing your bios from reading any of your pata drives. It happens. And BTW, is that a brand new hdd, an old hdd, does it have an os on it? Have you instructed your bios to boot from the sata drive and not the 2nd drive?
But the first thing I'd do is to ensure that you can restore your system back to its earlier state when eveything was running correctly. Good luck. You've come to the right place to get some good feedback.
