I have recently decided to upgrade my monitor and bought a flatscreen Iiyama 511S. Unfortunately when I received it, it made a buzzing noise, not very loud but irritating all the same, and I returned it and got a new one.... which does exactly the same.

The noise stops when I switch the monitor to economy mode but that makes the screen go rather dark as well. Does anyone know if this is normal for flatscreen monitors, or does anyone have experience with the E511S?

If the noise is comming from the built in speakers turn the volume down or disconnect them to see if it stops.

Thanks for the reply. No the noise doen not come from the speakers, I have tried turning the volume all the way up and down but this doesn't make any difference. It comes from the back of the monitor, it sounds like there is some electrical unit that is buzzing. When I switch to a black screen (eg to dos mode) it stops for maybe half a second or so.
