I am planning to plug my two computers into the same automatic voltage regulator of 500 watts output.

I there a free program in the net which will tell me how much amperes a computer is using, specially the maximum during a work session?

In this connection, what about a program which will flash the amperage of an electrical appliance on the screen, including of course the input and output sockets for linking up with the computer.

Thanks in advance for any references.

I am using my desktop with an APC Back-UPS 800 with PowerChute program, it tells me the load in watts, a 17" CRT/tower/DSL router is drawing approx 150 watts. It will let it run 29 minutes with that load.

I am not using any typical uninterrupted power supply. In times of electrical blackouts what I use is a power bank which is basically a researchable battery like the ones used in automobiles, but with electronics built into it to change DC to AC for feeding into the computer or TV in place of the house mains.

My question about knowing the amperage consumed by a computer in order to ascertain whether my two computers can be fed from one automatic voltage regulator of 500 watts output, is part of a broader question, namely:

Do we have any free softwares in the Net which will enable the computer to serve as a multimeter for testing basic electrical units like voltage, amperage, and resistance?

That should make the computer a useful instrument for the home DIY electrician like yours truly.
