Hi,
I have an old Logitech serial 3 button mouse connected to 9 pin COM port. I want to free my COM port to be used with another device. I have free USB and PS/2 port. I asked my vendor for a COM to PS/2 converter but he states that the converters are available but don't work.
Does any one know what could be the reason for the converter not working and how can I make it work if possible on Win2K?

Hi, welcome to the forums.

I think you would be better off just buying a new PS/2 or USB mouse. Probably cheaper than buying a serial to ps2 converter.

Hi,
thanks for the suggestion but converter is only for 30Rs. = $0.8 USD while a decent USB optical mouse is around 400-500 Rs/. = $10.0 USD.

Thanks,
Divick Kishore.

Some mice may NOT work on the PS2 port. If the mouse was never designed to work there, they don't always work when you use a converter. Since they are so cheap, try one. Id it doesn't work, then you can buy a new mouse.

Thanks for the reply. Yes indeed that's what I have thought of now but I would surely love to hear from somebody in case there is another remedy for this problem.

Thanks and regards,
divick.

Remember:

I said it MAY not work. I would try it. What have you gt to loose. You might even be able to return it if it doesn't work.
