ok, this is for those of you who replied to my "boot problems-mobo to blame?" topic.
i got a new mobo today, its an entirely different board. i swap the CPU and memory. first i start the system bare, to make sure it all works. i get the memory error beeps. GRR! i take out the 256 meg chip. turn the comp back on, a system startup beep! YES! i look to the monitor, the memory test completed, and bios shows me the floppy error.(i didnt have it connected, so its understandable) i was thinking things were goin well, so i shut down then plug in all the exspansion cards and plug in ide cables and what-not. i double check connections, and fire up the rig... i get the infamous memory-error beeps. "poopy," i think. "must be something i added or plugged in." i unplug everything except the bare essentials. i try turning it on again. i get the memory error beeps. what could be the problem now?! was the memory being nice to me just that once? is the power supply screwed up? what?!
just to re-cap:
i put in new mobo and boot up with a bare system (memory cpu, video card)
i start the system up, and i get (beeping) memory errors
i take out the newer memory, comp passes POST and other bios tests! http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif
i turn off comp to install new cards
comp dont start, i take out all cards
comp still dont start, me get mad.
me come here and type long topic
me wait and thanks all who helps him!

Rnolen, this should be kept in the original thread. You are still getting responses there.

Did you try starting up with the MB out of the case and placed on a piece of cardboard or other insulating material, and just the power supply, CPU and case speaker installed?
If you hear beeps, install just the memory. If you hear the same beeps, the memory is bad.
If you hear different beeps, install the video card. Same beeps? The card is bad.
If everything works, check if any MB screws or standoffs are contacting the MB circuitry anywhere, or if there is another possible cause for a short(loose screw behind the MB or any other loose or dangling metallic material).
