Hello everyone,

I am being faced with by far the strangest error/problem i have ever seen.

What is happening, is that on my brother's PC, on some games/map editors the monitor just cuts-out and stays on power saving mode. However the PC is still on, fans are spinning etc.

Another strange thing about this is that, all games/map editors that this is happening on all require above 800mhz processor...?

I have checked for viruses, overheating, refresh problems, BIOS settings and reinstalled windows and all drivers. I have also tested another couple of monitors and the same problems occur on them.

One more strange problem, is that when this PC was first bought only a week ago (New monitor and everything) Doom 3 was running fine for a couple of hours, then thats when it first cut-out. And the other day i managed to get another game working for 15 minutes before it just cut-out...

Can anyone help me. Here are the computers spec:

AMD Athlon 3000+ Processor
ATI Radeon Pro 9600 AGP Graphics Card
Asus A7N8X-E Deluxe Motherboard

Thanks in advance! :(

CHECK YOUR DISPLAY CONFIGURATION SETTINGS
On my PC [Win98] I go to:
"Control Panel=>Display=>Screen Saver=>Settings=>Setting for Power Scheme=>Turn Off Monitor"
This "Specifies the period of INACTIVITY that you want to elapse before your monitor turns off."

The big question needing answered is:
What does the PC consider as INACTIVITY?

On my PC I think those are specified in the
"BIOS Setup=>Power Management Setup Menu".
There is a list of "PM EVENTS".
I notice IRQ 12 [my mouse] is one of those [listed & "Enabled"]. :)
So mouse activity is considered as one of the "PM EVENTs" and therefore keeps the monitor from "Turning Off" [if active], and also brings it back on [if active].
