Hello & Happy New Year.. well, not for me so far

Let me tell you about my system, which was working perfectly.

I have a Athlon 700 MHZ, built it myself. A-Bit ka7 MB & 512 MB (2 256mb pc 133) I have geforce2 mx & soundblaster live value. Floppy, Cd, & Burner.

Before I left to go home for christmas I forgot to turn off my computer, I figured it would go to sleep anyhow after I remembered and wasn't worried. I come home and my pc is asleep.. ok, but it won't wake up, I can live with this.

I turned it off by holding power button (It wouldn't reset)
It turned on and shortly after using it for a little while it started freezing. I turned it off, again by holding the power button. It worked and it froze again.

The next time I tried to turn on my computer, it wouldn't boot.

1. The bios screen for video read correctly
2. system bios shows up and reads memory correctly
3. Monitor shuts off, and system remains on but with no activity that I can see. It won't reset.

I unplugged everything, even replaced a memory so it was 1 128mb pc133 stick.

I unplugged all slots and cards and put them in again, checked jumpers and bios settings. I took battery out and put it in again later, and even set the cmos to discharge and then back later to normal and tried to boot again. I tried different monitor. Same problem

Can anybody help me or tell me the possible problem. I know I shouldn't have left it on for a month..

please reply here

I can't enter bios when I press DEL either.

Does the CPU fan come on when you turn on the power? How about the power supply fan....when you power up does the power supply fan come on? Let us know....with the limited info you have given so far, it seems you have a bad power supply or bad cpu fan.

My powersupply fan is working, the fans all work inside the case, and the processor fan works.

All the fans are working. I have reset cmos. The problem persists. Replaced memory, replaced video card, same problem persist.

If I turn it on the problem will happen, if i turn it off then back on again, nothing will happen... it won't even turn on.

AMD has agreed to replace my 700 MHZ processor as it is still under warranty, and A-Bit has agreed to replace my motherboard. I don't know if they test them and if there is nothing wrong send me back the same one, but if they agreed I'm going go let them replace it.

Yeah I'd let Abit replace the motherboard, that might fix the problem

Hi Romario

Just a random shot in the dark, but try a boot disk in the floppy and see if it will boot from there.

Good Luck!
