I have an AGP graphics card, and recently put in a PCI (TV wonder) as a second video card. To use the TV functions you have to boot the PCI as the primary adapter. Is there a way to do this without changing the BIOS?
If I need to change the BIOS, does it need to be done through the PnP setup? If so, I need to flash my bios to upgrade to a version that supports the AGP/PCI switch.
That brings me to my next question: I looked at the various releases for my BIOS (Award BIOS from the Aopen website), and the release I want is one in the middle of about five versions. Do I need to flash each version up to the version I need? Say I'm at 1.1 - do I need to flash 1.2 in order to be able to use 1.3? Or can I just flash 1.3. Aopen doesn't have very detailed support. Thanks -K

Hey,

Nope, any BIOS update is cumulative, ie. it includes all fixes in all updates before it.

Cheers,

Cheers right back at ya, Big Blue. Thanks. I realize it's a seemingly stupid question, but I've never had to flash my bios before, and I wanted to make sure. -K

I read thru several reviews of ATI's TV Wonder card and nowhere did they mention having to change the primary adapter in BIOS in order to use the TV card with an existing video card.
They did caution about video cards other than those from ATI, Nvidia, and 3dfx possibly not being supported. But other than that, the only thing to do to get it working is install it, connect the TV cable and the supplied wire to the sound card, and install the software.

ATI says through it's support center that their cards don't function under 2000 (XP) as secondary display adapters. When I boot, my AGP (Hercules Prophet) is selected automatically as the primary. So I need to boot to the PCI (ATI) to get the tv/video functions working. I'd certainly be up for other solutions than flashing my bios.
