recently while surfing on the net one virus was flashed by my office scan anti virus, which it could not delete. Thereafter the system went slow. I formatted my NT4.0 system and loaded windows 2k. The system still has the same performance. Now I have put 256 MD RAM but there is no improvement.
Seems like it has problem with the disk, but I am not sure. The disk access LED keeps lighting or a long time. on an average it takes 15 minutes to boot the system, 5 to 7 minute to open an application. and just don't ask how much time if the anti virus scanning is going on in the background.

When you reinstalled did you remove the existing partitions and repartition the disk, before reformatting the drive?

After you reinstalled did you install the motherboard drivers?

Depending on the motherboard and chipset you may need them for best performance.
