There shouldn't be any problems in connecting a USB keyboard - it depends on the age of the system whether it will be supported immediately though. Some older machines need you to support legacy USB devices in the bios (but of course you won't get to the bios without a keyboard:eek: )

The first thing is to check that it is connected ok, to the correct PS2 port (don't muddle it up with the mouse port!)

Do you get any error messages or beeps? if there is a fault on the keyboard you will often get an error message and a couple of beeps when the system boots up (1 beep means everything is ok).

You can try the USB keyboard as long as it is plugged directly into a USB port on the PC - don't try plugging it into a USB hub, as it won't be recognised. Make sure you disconnect the PS2 keyboard first, (do all this whilst the system is switched OFF - never try to add or remove PS2 devices with the system switched on)
Boot the system and see if it works. If it does, then you're ok. If not, you'll need to get hold of a different PS2 keyboard (try borrowing one, or buy a cheap one), plug it in (again, with the system switched off) and remove the USB keyboard.
Reboot the system and see if this solves things. If so, the fault lies with the keyboard. If not, then it's time to look at other possibilities.
Post back with any results you get, whether successful or not.
