Hi dirty-dan, Welcome to The PC Guide Forum,

Can you post back your system specs. This error message is basically telling you that the Self Monitoring And Reporting Technology employed by your Hard Drive is reporting a problem. It is operating outwith specified parameters.

Have a look here (http://www.pcguide.com/ref/hdd/perf/qual/features_SMART.htm) for some more info.

Hi dirty-dan

How old is this drive and is it still under warranty. If is under warranty, contact the supplier. If it is out of warranty I suggest you contact the manufacturer of this drive for information.

This drive could run for many months or it could fail tomorrow, either way I would back-up any important data you have.

Good luck!
