I am in a class that requires us to pull up a CD, and at the same time go to a web site and do our homework. I have already done two assignments and it hasn't been a problem. Today, my computer is acting like I don't even have a CD-ROM! It won't even let me manualy open the drive! So, my CD is stuck in there, and I can't locate the drive anywhere on my computer! I tried re-starting it, but no luck. Somebody told me to stick a paper clip in the small hole under the CD drive - this is supposed to pop it open somehow. I don't have a paper clip at the moment, but when I get one I will try it. Problem is my computer still won't register the drive. Any suggestions?

Does the CD-drive spin/light up when you start the computer?

Before anyone can properly help you they will need to know the OS you have.

Until then try the following:
Try booting into SAFE MODE then go to Device Manager and remove the troublesome CD drive. After doing that reboot into windows to see if windows re-finds it (which it should do)

If windows does NOT re-find it open case and check to see if the cables are properly connected.
