I had loaded some games some time back. Recetly I uninstalled them and tried to delete the directories which were not removed by the uninstall process. I am not able to delete three directories. When I try to delete these directories, it gives a message saying some files exist. But on viewing the contents, thro ' explorer, there are no files visible. Have checked the view hidden files box. :confused:

When I ran a virus scan from Norton, the messages for all the three direcories were

files = 0; boot record = 2 and master boot record = 1.

How can I remove these three directories.

Try booting into safe mode and delete the directories from there.

Make sure that you HAVE uninstalled the programs before deleting the directory folders

If that does not work try the following.

Re-install all programs then boot into safe mode and uninstall form there.

Strongly sugest trying to delete them in safe mode 1st, but this website has instructions on various other ways of deleting files and folders. Give it a try.

KellysKorner (http://www.kellys-korner-xp.com/xp_d.htm#del) has some good ideas partic if you are using WinXP and the link therein for ProcessExplorer from SysInternals (http://www.sysinternals.com/ntw2k/freeware/procexp.shtml) should be able to kill any process interfering with accessing the file.
