:rolleyes: On my pentium pc, I have a 3gb drive, and i am thinking of upradeing to a larger drive, but if I remeber right on older pc the bios limts the drive of 2gb???? My bios is award software rom pci/isa bios ;)

There are a number of thresholds but you are obviously above the 2gig one. You are likely to be OK up to 8.4 gig which is the next major threshold and after that there is probably a jump to around the 35gig mark.

Need to identify your mobo or pc more accurately to dig out the exact information - otherwise its trial and error. There are, of course, other ways of overcoming these limits - he he - which ski will outline in a moment. ;)

It sounds like your system is an older one, which means that the BIOS probably has hard drive size limits.

There are a few ways to overcome that obstacle.
One is to flash the BIOS with an later version, assuming it's available from either the computer's supplier or the motherboard's manuf.
The second is to use software supplied with the hard drive.
The third is to install an IDE PCI controller card which has its own BIOS and to which the new HD can be connected.
The fourth is to install a new motherboard.
