Hi,

Keyboard was working ok yesterday till I tried it this afternoon, I have windows 2k with SP4. I booted the machine and it came up fine went to try and use the keyboard but nothing, no lights. I rebooted the machine and saw the main lights flash so I assumed that POST had recognised it. Windows came up with no errors but again I could not use the keyboard. I went to Cntrol Panel/Keyboard/Hardward and there was nothing there, it was as if Windows had not bothered to load the drivers for the keyboard.

Has anyone come across this issue ?

Cheers

First:

Welcome to the http://www.pcguide.com/ubb/pcgubb.gif forums.

When you experience trouble with your keyboard:

1) Turn the computer off

2) Unplug the keyboard and clean the keyboard and PC connection with canned air. If there is dust on the pins it can affect the connection.

3) Try this keyboard an a different PC

4) Tray a new or known working keyboard on this PC.

If # 3 works and #4 doesn't, it's the keyboard port and you will have to replace the motherboard  or use a USB keyboard.

If #3 fails and #4 works it's time for a new keyboard. You can get a good old PS-2 keyboard for less than $10.00 or you can spring for the new wireless natural keyboard up to $100.00 or you can get one for any price in between.
