I am wondering if anyone can help me out with a situation. For a family, I am trying to get a Lexmark X75 printer/scanner/copier working again. It won't feed the paper through correctly, and it either won't start to feed through, or it will get all jammed and crimpled if it does go through the printer. It stopped working only a couple days after the warranty ran out! How frustrating! I was at their house looking at it tonight. I found a pencil and a pen that was dropped into the paper feeder  but I don't know if this is what messed the printer up or not. I don't know how much money the family could put into fixing it or getting a new one, so I am hoping someone can help me with this, or has had this problem happen to their own printer. Any help would be great.

It did. At this stage you might find broken gears in the paper feed.
Used one sells for $76 at Amazon: http://www.amazon.com/exec/obidos/tg/detail/-/B00006HYDG/002-0708137-6568002?v=glance
Yep, used ones all over the net, however, you might also want to take advantage of computer shows, that way you can get hands-on, and generally the sellers are from businesses in the area, so you know where to look for them if you have trouble with it. You should also be able to get some kind of 30 or 60 day warranty or service agreement. Also check with the local computere stores and warehouse stores like CompUSA and see if they have any resellering items.
Edit: as for fixing it, hmmm, if you know any free-lance wrench heads that'll do it for $20 + parts, go for it, but for what you will spend I'd say spend a few bucks more and get a good used one. I have had a Lexmark X63, and it works like a charm to this day (3 years old), and I use a black-ink cartridge refiller so it costs pennies to refill as opposed to buying new cartridges ($20 to $30 a piece, right?) every so often. Good luck.
