soltec SL-75KAV-X Series asus geforce2 gts 32mg AMD Thunderbird 1.1 384 mgs sdram creative soundblaster live (value) Samsung 955 19 " Monitor maxtor 40 gig drive 7200 rpm Quantum Fireball 40 gig drive 7200 rpm It all started with the installation of a new HSF and a case fan.
All was good at this point ,but then you get thinking that one fan is good then two fans are better,(Right?),there was no hole for the second fan so we removed the side panel and drilled a hole and inserted a second fan .
That was when the s%^t hit the fan ...it crashed hard on us had some weird video problems ...lallala to daaa (figured that we killed the PSU),looked and figured out that it was a 250 watt psu and not up to the task ,replaced it with a 300 watt psu and everything was hunky doory for a few days then the crashes stated to happen randomly out of the blue crash...reboot itself for no apparent reason
Comes up with wierd errors, memory dumps of some sort
could this still be a psu problem...?

Hey and Welcome,
Hmmm, it seems that possibly the installation of a new HSF and the errors are related?
This could be a heat issue with the CPU. Not sure if you have any experience with replacing a HSF, so I'll ask the obvious questions to get us going.
Did you clean all the old thermal material off the CPU when you removed the original heatsink? Did you use the thermal pad that came on the new heatsink, or did you apply thermal grease yourself? Are you sure that the new HSF is recommended for your processor? Are you sure you didn't accidentally crack the CPU core when installing the new heatsink? Do you have any kind of heat monitoring system, such as Motherboard Monitor? You can get it here: http://mbm.livewiredev.com/
Also, are you sure there is nothing shorting out from installing the new case fan? Are you using the four-pin molex PSU connector or a 3-pin motherboard connector to power those fans?
Have you tried to reseat the video card?
I really think it's a CPU heat issue, but hang on for more opinions. In the meantime, you could post back with some of the info requested above.
Cheers,

yes, HSF was clean before the installation, yes i used the pad that came on the HSF,Yes we use MBM 5 and no there doesn't seem to be a heat issue, runs at a consistant 47 deg,i plugged in the two case fans to the motherboard and had the HSF connector spliced at the puter shop and Shrink wrapped to boot so it could be run directly to the psu.
Yes all of the fans come on immediatly and they never stop while on there doesn't seem to be any slowing down of the fans that i have heard mentioned elsewhere.
today we went all out and removed all of the cards from the machine and tried to re seat them all even though most of them haven't ben outta the machine since new , and it seem to have worked for now but i will re post and let you know as of the happenings here .
i personally think that it is a power issue myself..

Ok, now I think it's a power issue as well. If you still have problems, which I hope you don't, but you might, get yourself some 3 to 4-pin adapters and run those fans off the power supply. I read somewhere that a person shouldn't have too many things running directly off the motherboard, even if there are connectors for them.
