Hi,

Just wondering if anyone else has had problems with their e-machines notebook? Problems with batteries, ac adaptors, overheating, etc. It was never fixed--it still had all these problems. Oh, it was less than a year old, btw.

And another question--if I just barely drop it--say from my knees to padded carpet, should that break the LCD??? It slipped off my knees (due to the fact that the screws had loosened on the frame and the back was unstable), and hit on the corner of the laptop, about one foot from my knees, on padded carpet. Then, half the screen was vertical striated lines, with no picture. E-machines said I had abused it, and refused to pay for it. I ended up having to pay $247 for a refurbished model, because when I got it back from e-machines, the tiny crack in the back of the frame (at the hinge) was a huge break, and it got worse, until I couldn't even close the thing. The screws came out. I believe that the original problem with the screws loosening, etc., was due to the fact that the bumper feet came off, causing the lid to torque when closed. It was a nightmare. The tech guys didn't ever repair the thing, the corporate office was rude, etc. The last time I sent it in, they had said they would replace the motherboard, the battery, the AC adaptor, etc. When I called about it, when still having problems when I got it back, the guy said they MIGHT have done a system restore (which we had already done!!!), but they might not have, but that was all that was documented. Has anyone else had nightmares like these?

Now that I get the refurbished one, one of the keys keeps popping off and I have to work to get it popped back on. And several times already, it freezes and won't do anything--minimize, conrol alt delete, nothing. I had to shut it down manually. Any advice?

TIA!!
