My USB root hubs show a conflict in Device Mangager (Windows98 SE). All other devices are functioning OK. I tried the remove/refresh method then tried to reinstall the drivers from the Windows CD, but when I reboot, USB root hub devices show a conflict (displaying the excalamtion point (!)). I tried installing the drivers from the Matsonic utilities CD but the drivers cannot be found. Matsonic doesn't have anything on its website concerning this problem. There are some BIOS upgrades for this board, but not pertaining to anything USB that I could discern. I dashed an email off to their techsupport team weeks ago. I have yet to hear from them. I think my next mobo purchase will be an ASUS, right? I guess my main question is should I be installing the Win98 USB drivers or the drivers for the Mobo if they are present? I have also heard rumors and reports that the VIA chipsets have problems with USB, has anyone heard of this? I will except all expert comments and criticisms or any suggestions on what I may be overlooking. Thanks in advance

You said you installed the drives from the windows cd.
And the drivers from the matsonic utilities disk
Have you checked for the exact Chipset on the mother board?
If you can find it. You should find updated drivers from them..

The Asus mother boards can be a bit confusing to tweak to their full speed.
But If you have a Via chip set then you also need to install the via 4 in 1 drivers.

This is normal for all chipsets
