I have a compaq presario r3000z notebook, have had it for about a month now. Though I have heard bad things about compaq notebooks in the past, its performance has been satisfactory. However, there seems to be a basic design flaw, in that there are two intake fans on the bottom of the notebook which are partially sometimes completely blocked when the notebook is on the table, on my lap, etc. The small rubber feet do not seem to provide enough clearance, as the fans tend to get rather loud as the computer heats up. Any suggestions?

A notebook cooler should help: http://www.hardcoreware.net/reviews/review-75-1.htm

Would work great if I had any PS/2 ports. I have a Kensington USB mouse, so have never needed PS/2.

It may be an old review; the one I bought has a USB adapter included. There are others with a USB feed-though port. http://www.google.com/search?hl=en&q=notebook+cooler+review
