Welcome Aboard!

here's a link from HP - I haven't had time to check it through, but it may well be applicable:
http://h10025.www1.hp.com/ewfrf/wc/genericDocument?lc=en&cc=us&docname=c00002125

This sort of thing is normally due to incomplete uninstallation of software/reinstallation. If you have no joy from this, search HP to see if there is a separate uninstall utility, and run that. Then after you've run any uninstall, to to the windows uninstall (control panel) and see if anything is listed there. If there is still any HP stuff there, delete that, then follow the installation procedure carefully - these things seem to get more awkward as MS releases updates, so it may be worth
looking there as well.

You might have to follow Deddards suggestions whilst in Safe Mode to ensure that leftover/stray HP prog files are not starting with windows, and thus stopping you from total removal.

Also if you find that you cannot remove anything left behind try re-installing from safe mode as this can sometimes work when windows proper won't let you.

If you know someone who's running the same operating system as you, you can have them burn a copy of the file for you.

Make sure that you put it into the proper folder.

Are you running current anti-virus? Are you sure that your system is not currently compromised?

You may want to run HiJackThis and post the log here...

If you have trouble getting it then I am sure that someone here could possibly send it to you.
