I just put the pc togeather,it will not boot,it dont see the mouse, floppy monitor, key board.its p-4, mother board 845wn,video card ati 8500dv. intel said i could put in 3 gigs ram,i used 3gigs sdram buffered then found out that it will only support un buffored ram.at the intel web site there is no tested 1gig chip. the question is, is the problem with the wrong ram or other issues? I get three beeps when the pc is turned on.

any advice is welcome.thanks

Ummmmm.....yes, it could very well be a memory problem. Anytime you use memory that is not rated for the board you run the risk of a non-booting system.....

What OS are you running?

If you are running a 9x series, forget it...it will never get out the door with that much RAM......
This (http://support.microsoft.com/default.aspx?scid=kb;EN-US;q304943) gives a little info on 9x with over 1GB

What BIOS do you have?

That will give a clue for the beep code...if you strip it down to the basics...CPU, 1 stick of RAM (proper type) and the vid card...see if you get through the POST routine, if you do then add in the hard drive and floppy...and see if you can get it to boot(to the floppy)...

And if it's one long and two short beeps, it could be video card.
