MSI Motherboard - just died
Can anyone help me...- i'm normally pretty good with this sort of thing...but really lost this time round.
I built myself a pc about 9 months ago, MSI Platinum motherboard, p4 3.2, Zalman copper heatsink, quiet pc 350 watt power supply, good ram, good graphics card, plenty of fans....all has been working fine since the initial build....worked like a dream, until midday friday. Machine was working fine, then went downstairs, returned back to comp to find it off.....assumed a power cut or somethingso tried hitting the power button on front of pc....NOTHING
So openened up the case...no burning smells, so tried again...this time the northbridge fan( which has a few annoying flashing lights) flashed into action for about a split second, then nothing. The lights on the back of the pc by the ethernet connection are on but nothing else happens.
Tried disconnecting the northbridge power supply and then the machine fires up, fans spin, drives kick in and all seems well...but obviously the mahine will do no more as the northdbridge chip isnt powered to bring all things together.
Motherbaord and power supply are under warranty and are being returned soon, but has anyone got any ideas at all please......any help would be great appreciated.
