Hi, I am building a new computer. I got a motherboard/CPU combo used on EBAY. When I power up, no video and it beeps 8 times and cycles over and over. I checked the codes and it says its a video prob, It has onboard video. There is no way to disable the onboard Video that I know of. Help.
Thanks, Jason

Please specify the specs of your system, particularly the motherboard.

Hi,
Take the card out of the case and place it on a cardboard and test it to see if there is a short caused by the case. Also see if there is any switch which can turn the onboard vedeo off.

Motherboard is PC Chips 810 DLU (v. 7.5).

There does not appear to be a switch or bios setting to turn off the onboard video.
Try clearing CMOS memory by removing all power then moving Jumper1 from the 2-3 position to 1-2 for a few seconds. Then move it back. This jumper appears on the diagram to be adjacent to the CMOS battery. Exact instructions are on page 13 of the manual.

See here http://www.computerhope.com/beep.htm
For an AMI BIOS, 8 beeps means "Display memory Read/Write test failure".
Is your on board video using some of the boards' RAM for its memory?
Could this be a RAM problem I wonder?
This site also says that 8 beeps from an AMI BIOS indicates a video problem:

Since the MB has an onboard video adapter, and there supposedly is no mehtod to manually disable the onboard video, then see if installing a video card automatically disables it, and gets your system up and running.

I tryed a PCI video card, and nothing. However I did plug in the floppy drive and now I get 1 Beep, that repeats with no video. I tryed a boot disk and nothing, it just beeps once and repeats about every 4 seconds. I cleared the cmos and that did nothing. I havent placed it on a cardboard sufface yet, that could be it because I installed it on the Case myself.

Try to boot with only a monitor attached. Disconnect all drives and remove any add-on cards. If you can't boot with that configuration, then you have narrowed down the search for the defective part to motherboard, CPU, memory or PSU.
The next step is to completely remove the MB from the case as suggested above and try to boot.
My guess is that the motherboard is shot, but I've been wrong before.

Okay, I tryed the board, CPU and the RAM only on the cardboard, and I got 8 beeps over and over. I tryed it without the RAM and no beeps. still no video.

I had a look at the manual for your motherboard and it appears the the default Video adapter is set to PCI which allows for the onboard AGP and a PCI video card for a second monitor...
Since you cannot get any video to be able to try video options in the BIOS I'd say that there's something wrong with the motherboard.
I'd contact the eBay seller and let them know you've attempted to get it to work but there's simply no video and see what they say to do...

Could I be using the wrong RAM? I put the RAM in my other CPU and works fine.
