View Full Version : driver for KX-P1123
I am looking for the driver for my KX-P1123 (Panasonic). This page (http://www.printer-drivers.com/drivers/32/32184.htm) seems to tell me that www.driverguide.com has the driver but the only reference to that driver that I can find on driverguide is here. (http://www.driverguide.com/boards/printers10/)
I can't find this driver on Google either. Is it safe to assume that this driver doesn't exhist?

What OS are you using? XP and 2K include those drivers. When we had 98, I remember the same type of problem. I'm not sure, but I think we used the 2023 driver and it seemed to work fine. I ask around here and see if anyone else remembers.
Good Luck
There was a "user select" paper size on a certain program when the computer was Win98 and it was all good except that the Win98 computer was old and unstable. I put all the same software and connected the same periferals to a Win XP computer and now there is no user select paper size. The technical support tells me that the paper size options are dictated by the printer driver, not the program. The printer prints the labels, but since I can't select the proper paper size so four extra blank labels come out of the printer. It's a small problem, just a pain in the...

I feel your pain.
We use several dot matrix printers here, printing multiple page reports and such. Since we went away from 98, nothing worked right with the correct driver installed.
We have Okidata printers now, but even they can't use the correct driver. One printer uses a Panasonic driver to print one style of report, the other, which uses a different software program uses a generic driver.
We had to just sit down and start trying different drivers. After several days of trying this and that, we just stumbled on the right combination.
I know it's not very sceintific, but the printer help desk and the software guys just kept blaming each other.
I hope things work out!

So, now you just use a Win98 driver? You just tried a bunch of Okidata drivers that were for other printers?

No, we use the drivers provided by XP on one PC and 2K on another.
We just went down the list until we found some that worked. There's no formula for what we did, and some just flat out wouldn't work at all.
I would start with other Panasonic drivers in XP. Try one or two and see what happens.
Good luck, Bumpus
I have asked Panasonic what they think. I hope that they have an answer. The trial and error method could take a while.
We just shut the printer off when the one label is done so it doesn't roll out more, that is kindo a pain. Needing a new driver is juat a matter of convenience, not nececity.
The old printers are pretty popular for things just like this, label and invoice printing. Why don't companies update the drivers for their peripherals?

So you'll run out and buy a new printer...same as any other computer related manufacturer...from the same company, of course, that has already sold you a pile of junk they never supported, or charged $30 per call to support, finally replaced under warranty but only after you bugged them to death for 5 months...
The companies don't want to invest a few hours in either quality products or continued compatibility, they want you to buy their cheaply made junk for the most money they can get then buy a new one soon as the next version of Windows is released. It's called either free enterprise or capitalism, depending on who you talk to. I call it greed or theft, depending on my mood.
On the other hand, some printers do happen to be well made, and still work perfect with most any new OS around. My HP Laser Jet Series II is one of them, I've used it on everything from DOS and Windows 3.11 to XP and 3 versions of Linux Mandrake. It's always worked perfect except for a roller I had to replace about 6 months ago.
I once had a KX-P11xx printer, the short time it did work I wasn't happy with it, it finally gave up because it was worn out I think. Seems like it was the 1122 model, not sure, but it was either 1122 or the same as yours, 1123. To be fair, it was used and abused by a school for a number of years before I got it, so I never expected it to be in great shape or last long. I used it with Win98 and used the built in Win98 drivers, never had any trouble in that respect. (I just looked, and only the 1123 is listed in drivers, so it must have been that one.)
Try any of the Panasonic Laser Jet drivers listed, and some printers will work fine if set up as HP Laser Jets.
