Would appreciate some help with IBM Aptiva system - Pentium mmx 233mhz
Winmodem installed is on com 1 but according to device manager there is no com 1, only com 2. Tried installing (?) another com port and it comes up as com 3. How do I get the system to recognise the modem?

I recently installed a winmodem (Motorola/Actiontec PM560MS2). The "modem helper" program that installed when I set it up allows me to change the port that it's installed on. Port 1 was not an option and sounds fishy. If you can't change the port with the modem software, I suspect a deeper underlying configuration issue...
