My listing is similar to vegman's(1/30),just slightly different.
I have a FIC vt-501(AT)MB w/amdK5 133mhz cpu/66mhz bus.Problem is No BEEP(I have checked speakr conn.)and black screen w/blinking(stand-by)light on monitor.
Powr led (on),IDE led(red)comes on solid for appox.30sec.then off(there is the usual hard drive noise),fans ok,This case has a 200w.supply and uses (2) maxtor hard drives on the same channel(primary)/(2) sim slots for memory. Also, all the keybrd lights are ON and the floppy drive light stays ON.I have removed from case to test w/same results.
I have the old MB and 120mhz cpu but it has a broken pin on the CMOS battery chip/dead(reason for new MB w/coin type batt.)
I know, why bother with such an out of dater? This is to be used as a "teaching" computer.Any suggestions/feedback will be appreciated.

First off. If your floppy drive light is on all the time.
Check the connection. It should only light up for a few moments.
When it comes on and stays on that is a sign that the cable is connected backwards.
Pin one to Pin one connection is must at both the mother bard and drive.

The Key board lights should flash once or twice Not stay on.
1 Light “Num. Lock” should stay on . The others should go out.

Your bios is unable to complete the post because of an error.
( May be the floppy connection causing it)

------------------
To ERR is HUMAN
To REALLY screw things UP, YOU NEED a COMPUTER !

Thanks Rick,
I checked the connections, 1 to 1 on both ends but light still comes on floppy drive and stays on.Hard drives sound good first few secs.,but no post.Does the MB have to be grounded to the case?Any more idea's?Please forgive my ignorance.
