i am running winblows 98 SE on a 1.2 ghz athlon, biostart m7mia mobo, 20 gig hdd, 128 mg ddr ram, radeon 64 mb ddr gfx...

OK guys i have several probs.

(mind my grammar because im not in a very good mood -- i lost my wallet with a credit card and a 175$ ring). First off, my Explorer (not to be confused with internet explorer) has a few probs when i do this -- i open internet explorer and it works fine. if i close internet explorer and try and reopen it again, i get this error message saying "explorer has caused an invalid page fault in unknown blah blah blah." then another window pops up telling me that "internet explorer had errors in it and if this prob persists restart start your computer blah blah blah." i dont restart my comp because it's a pain in the ass to do. So, i hit ctrl alt dlt, then i click 'end task' on 'Explorer', then the shut down dialogue comes up and i hit cancel, wait for the desktop to refresh "with a new explorer" then i click on internet explorer and it works. ive tried defragging several times, clearing the cache, restarting, clearing all temp internet files. NOTHING WORKS. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/mad.gif

on to prob number 2 with my delightfully user-friendly comp, psh...

ok --
whenever i try and shut off my comp itll shut down to the point to where it's just a cursor blinking. then it conveniently idles there and doesnt shut off. http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/mad.gif so i have to manually shut it off using the button on the computer case. what the fux do i do to fix this. Are all of these probs so far because of my hardware? wuts goin on??!??!

on to prob number 3 (last one) with my delightfully user-friendly comp, psh...

ok--
my road-runner ISP is like montu the roller-coaster in busch gardens florida. i play an online game called counter-strike, and , in fast servers, i generally get around 60-90 milliseconds of lag. well, for the past month or so, my isp RARELY allows for me to get this good of lag. I am getting around 150 - 350, and lately it's been closer to 350 and sometimes shoots up to 1000-3000 (in which my game freezes and i have to leave the server because it's impossible to play.) I've tried reinstalling the whole road-runner thing, reinstalling counter-strike, NOTHING WORKS. AND, NO, I AM NOT DLING PORN OFF MORPHEUS WHICH MAKES ME LAG. I CLOSE EVERYTHING EXCEPT FOR SYSTRAY AND EXPLORER BEFORE I PLAY. What the f**** this is THE BIGGEST PISS-OFF IN THE WORLD!!

All three of these probs and my wallet lost and my 175$ ring are making me really angry.
IF you made it this fair, and are so kind as to try and solve these problems, i thank you so much...

Zerocool.

I can answer Number 3 for you.
Welcome to the world of Road runner.
Each new user added in your area will cause a drop in your performance.
This is just the nature of the network beast.

I have also seen My performance drop from Top/Max possible via cable to One Third that speed
Most of the speed drop occurred after AOL was added to the Time Warner / Road Runner cable

OK...not a very happy camper, tonight?

Have you tried running the IE repair tool...(for IE version 5.x and higher), go to the Add/Remove Programs applet in the Control Panel and hunt down IE (it may just say IE or have something like Microsof IE and tools), click on it and then you should have a choice of a couple of things...one of them should be to reapir the current installation.

For the shut down problem, try ending all running tasks manually (through <ctrl><alt><del> if needed, one a ta time and seeing if you can find out which one is causing it to hang, (does it end normally in Safe Mode?), or disable all the background tasks that start at bootup with msconfig and see if it ends normally...basically what I'm getting at is it trial and error playing around with what is running at the time you go to shutdown to see what program or combination of programs....(I sometimes get the same problem and basically I have come up with this: Prog A, Prog B, Prog C: if any one of them is running by itself no problem; If A & B, A & C or B & C are running no problem; if all three are running....hang at shutdown.)

Third problem.......sorry, not familiar with your ISP...but I would think either cingestion on the ISP end or a configuration problem on your end...there are a couple of guys hee who have RR who might have a few more suggestions on it...
