http://www.PCGuide.com/ubb/smile.gif When booting my pc doesn't always recognize the mouse. I get a message that says no mouse detected. I then have to switch off and reboot and then get that blue screen. Thanks for any help here

The first place to look is the connection .
With the system turned off press the mouse plug into the plug socket completely and securely.

If this doesn’t solve it. Check the cord from the plug to the mouse .
Any cut’s or even a deep scrape can affect the shielding of the cable.
If the cable or the mouse itself is damaged they are reasonable cheep and should be replaced

For future reference.
If the mouse is not recognized and you don’t have a windows menu button on your key board.
To access the start menu and the shut down menu.

You can use the CTRL ALT DEL keys to get the task manager . On that screen is a button you can use to shut down the system and avoid the Blue screen (Window Improperly shut down )
The Hot key to shut down will be under lined. Just press and Hold the ALT then press the unlined key/letter ( ALT U)

Thanks for this good info, however, this doesn't occur every time I boot, but when it does the only solution is to turn off the main switch and then turn it back on and then push the power button. Then it will reboot and load propery. More help please.

Have you tried a new mouse?

Also what kind of mouse do you have (not brand but...serial, P/S2, USB....)?

yep, I'd say to try a different type mouse than the one you currently use.

there are three main types.

ps-2 -(a small round female plug)

serial- (an oval male plug)

usb- ( a very small square plug)

depending on the age of your computer you can generally use at least two of these type plugs. (only one at a time!)

also, unless I read wrong, Rick was telling you how to not have to go through scandisk on every reboot by pressing cntrl, alt, delete and shutting windows down correctly.
