The Maxtor MaXLine III 7B300S0 300GB is a Maxline while the Maxtor 6B300S0 300GB is a DiamondMax 10 series of hard drive. They are essentially the same. Maxline III is Maxtors midline of hard drives while DiamondMax is thier desktop series.

The Maxtor MaXLine III 7B300S0 specifications make note that the NCQ reads are twice as fast as the Maxtor 6B300S0 in random reading. It is also rated at 1 million hours. It also is priced at $100 more.
