Have connected an external modem to Com 1 port. (only serial port available on my PC). Been working with this for surfing the web.

Recently bought a DCU 11 cable (Sony Ericsson) to connect a mobile phone to the PC. The cable has a USB port at one end. Connected the cable between a USB port on the PC and the phone. Installed the drivers which came along with the cable. (DCU11 driver and the USB to serial port driver.)

When the phone's application software is started, it brings up the mobile phone monitor. The application software is reporting that the phone is not connected, but there is a a green tick flashing on the mobile phone monitor icon which is in the tray. The green tick indicates the phone is connected. Also at same time the RD and TD leds on the external modem are flashing. I have not dialled up the modem. If the external modem is powered off, there is no green tick flashing on the mobile phone monitor icon, and the application software still reports that the phone is not connected.

In the device manager everything is reported as normal and working.
How do I make the PC communicate with the phone thro' the cable.
Thanks is advance.

Are you connecting an Ericsson mobile phone to the PC?

Did you follow the instructions for installing the drivers?
Sometimes a USB device has to be connected at a specified time during the driver installation.

Yes. Am trying to connect sony ericsson T230 to the pc. Am able to transfer data using FMA . Trying to transfer wall papers and MMS stuff using software available on Sony Ericsson site.

As per instruction , the cable has to be connected and the DCU 11 driver loaded.
Then the image editor can be used, which will run the mpm.exe (mobile phone monitor). Using this, the wall papers could be transferred.
