I have a Pentium 2 mother board. For sometime now to power up I have had to push the reset button instead of the normal power switch. When I power up now I get a low tone but shrill noise when pushing the button. The only way I have found to jump start is to switch off the incoming power feed and hold the reset button down until the tone fades out complete. Then when I reconnect the power the computer starts up. I am sure that what is going on is I am discharging a capacitor some where. Is my motherboard going out or is it my power supply.

One quick check is to make sure that you haven't swapped positions for the reset and the power switches on the motherboard (this can happen if you were doing something inside the case and knocked one loose)...

Also avery good possiblity on the power supply.....
